Drink tracking for people who drink

Moderation, not sobriety. Measurement, not judgment. September 2026.

Abvy's reading · September 2026
Search "drink tracker" and you mostly find quitting apps wearing a costume - streaks, day counters, gentle disappointment. Abvy starts from the opposite premise: you're drinking tonight, and tonight deserves instruments.

The category has a blind spot

The app stores split alcohol apps into two camps: sobriety (I Am Sober, TRY DRY - streaks and community for quitting) and coached moderation (Sunnyside, Reframe - weekly plans for drinking less). Both work on the scale of weeks, and both quietly assume drinking is the problem to be managed. What neither offers is the thing a person actually wants at 22:30 on a Friday: an honest, live answer to where am I right now, and how does tonight end?

What moderation tracking looks like

  • Sessions, not streaks. An evening is the unit. It starts, it's measured, it ends, you see the recap the next morning. No day counters, nothing to "break".
  • A live estimate instead of a tally. Six drinks is a number; a curve heading to 1.2 ‰ at 1 a.m. is information. Abvy computes your estimate with a published model and shows it as a range.
  • Pacing on your own terms. You set the limit; the app tells you when the next drink fits it and taps your wrist as you approach it. It never editorializes.
  • The morning-after answer. The same curve that tracked the night shows the estimated window for reaching zero - the question every "how long until the alcohol is gone" search is really asking.

Judgment-free is a design decision

No red screens, no guilt copy, no "are you sure?". The app treats a big night the way a thermometer treats a fever: worth knowing precisely, not worth a lecture. That neutrality is also why the data is trustworthy - people stop logging honestly the moment an app starts scolding them for the truth.

Yes - that's exactly the gap Abvy sits in. No streaks, no day-zero counters, no "you relapsed" language. You log drinks because you're having them; the app's job is to keep the evening measured - live estimate, pacing, and when you'll be back at zero - not to talk you out of it.

Track tonight as it happens - live estimate, sober window, and pacing on your own numbers.

Abvy estimates - it never measures. It is not a breathalyzer and can't tell you whether you're under a legal limit or fit to drive.
